Who is Frankie?
Frankie, short for Frankenstein, is the inspiration for the first Telethon for abandoned animals in Costa Rica. This is a dog rescued from the streets after being slaughtered, she was only 2 months old.
She was rescued by policeman in March 2009 and taken to a shelter, but their injuries were severe, would lose an eye and a dog with disabilities. Given this scenario she would put to sleep unless someone offered to pay their expenses and care in a nursery. One volunteer, who would be in the future founder of the Telemaraton Canina was the one who offered help and take forever to Frankie.
Frankie is recovered and is the symbols of the NPO, endorsing green products and companies that develop in harmony with other species.
These are some of the activities in which Frankie has been involved.
August / October 2009.
Interview with the 3 candidates for the Presidency of Costa Rica (Laura Chinchilla, Otto Guevarra and Otton Solis) asking a both Animals rights and how are they going to help if they win and asking for a reform of SENASA Law. Frankie received more than 500 questions on Facebook, only 6 were selected for the candidates respond.
Octuber/January 2010.
Frankie went to live to Jaco Beach near Pacific Coast to help the Olive Ridley Turtles, sadly was hit by a taxi driver who later accept was intention. She suffered a broken leg, hip, 2 discs back, and damage the liver. Once again her life was in danger, the best veterinarians attended, plus her recovery would take months. She never left her cause and newly discharged involved with the BBC / CBBC, filming episodes in Costa Rica for the program Animals at Work. In these programs she talks about her life and how, despite her accident, she never stopped working for animals, developing a work program for the Central Pacific Ridley turtles.
February / September 2010.
Focusing all the energies on the TV event / Gala, creating business alliances, using her image and contacts for the benefit of the Olive Ridley turtles and animals from the streets.
Develop, in partnership with Editorial Expresso, an educational program HELP, which teaches young children about animal law and nature but in a friendly and funny way, including the 4 core subjects of primary school, based on textbooks used by the Ministry of Education.
Frankie begins a very good relationship with the national media and international, to name a few, La Teja, La Nation, The Village of Garabito, Good Day program on Channel 7, TV Jaco, Profile magazine, Telenoticias for Channel 7 AM Costa Rica, SINART News Channel 13, CBBC / BBC, Best friends.org, ReinoZOO, IFAW. The Telemaraton Canina was a hit on tv, Frankie raised $28.000 aprox in 4 hour for neglect animals, Now she is working in building the first Clinic for abandoned animals in the country.
